Tutorial: Using Digital Stamps!

Hi everyone! Danielle here...

So, the first challenge here at Little Tangles started yesterday, and I provided some free digital stamps in case you haven't had a chance to get some from the store yet.   I know that up until a few weeks ago I had no idea how to use digi stamps! lol  I asked the amazing Jean Manis to put together a little tutorial for you to learn how to put those cute digi stamps to work!

Using digital Neat & Tangled Stamps

Jean here to give you a quick tutorial on using the digital Neat & Tangled stamps.

The first thing needed is to save the digital images onto your computer. Right-click the image and do a “save as” to save the images into a directory.

While it is possible to work with the images in Microsoft Word, this tutorial shows using the files in Photoshop (directions for Photoshop Elements would be similar).

1) Create a new file, and choose letter-size.

2) I like to create grid lines at the center breaking the letter-size page into four sections. A typical card front would be 4 ¼” x 8 ½”, so this division provides four fronts.

3) The next step is to open the digital file.

4) Select the digital image and drag in onto the empty canvas. There is now a layer on the page with the digital file.

5) Open the sentiment digital file and drag it onto the page as well. It sits on its own layer.

6) Select both layers and duplicate.

7) Drag the two new layers into another 4 ¼” x 8 ½” part of the paper. This enables easy sizing of the components for the physical card.

8) With both layers selected, pull on one of the corners while holding the shift key to scale the images
larger. By holding the shift key, the image is equally enlarged in both the horizontal and vertical directions.

In a similar fashion, you can scale the bird smaller and duplicate it several times for printing. Before printing, fill the page with additional options

Print the file to a laser writer if you’re using Copic markers to color the image. The inks from other printers may react with your markers. Print onto cardstock and set your printer to handle the heavier paper. Another option is to take the printed page to a copy shop if you don’t have access to a laser writer.

After you've printed your images you can color, and fussy cut them just as you would a stamped image!

Using a digital image is so simple and allows for a lot of options in sizing and orientation!

Introducing the Little Tangles Design Team!

Hello there!! Are you ready to meet the Little Tangles Design Team? Say hello to these five lovely ladies!!

Stephanie B

Hi! My name is Stephanie and I am married with two dogs. I work full time, but when I’m not working, I enjoy all things crafty! I love making cards, scrapbooking, sewing, crochet, etc. For the most part, I love to create colorful, clean and simple cards. Aside from crafting, I also enjoy shopping, watching movies, going to the beach, and spoiling our dogs.
I'm so happy to be the Design Team Coordinator for Little Tangles! I'm thrilled to be working with our talented design team as well as the amazing Danielle!

Miriam Prantner:
Married to Andrew with two daughters, Ellie and Carina, and a beagle named Geronimo, I live in Arlington, VA and have been crafting since I can remember (it was the only way to keep me busy).  I've been a scrapbooker for over a decade, and recently started stamping and making cards.  Working for the government and being a wife/mom keep me pretty busy, but I find time in the evenings to craft.  I love experimenting, learning new techniques, and trying new products.  When I'm not hanging out with the family or crafting, you might find me playing hockey or curled up with a book.

Ren-Yi Lo:
Hello everyone - first off, thank you so much for this amazing opportunity to join the Little Tangles Design Team. I am looking forward to getting to know Danielle and my new teammates.

For a few little fun facts about myself: I am a foodie and crafting addict. Be it baking, cooking, crocheting, cross-stitching or paper crafting, I am always up for trying something new. I'm currently trying to expand my paper crafting horizons with some scrapbooking and there is an upcoming glass beading workshop I am dying to try out.

I am a Software Engineer by day, so my creative monster comes out at night and weekends. If my experiments involves the kitchen or the outside grill, then my family, friends and boyfriend become my guinea pigs taste testers. My other vices include retail therapy by shopping for crafting supplies, too much TV (while crafting) and listening to music (while cooking).

I live in New Jersey and love the many outdoorsy opportunities, such as kayaking, biking, or hiking. Most of it is chronicled on my wee little blog space called Smallhanded Adventures. Please don't be shy and feel free to stop by to say hi. If there is any one thing I have learned about the blog world is how awesome the online community is. I have been so lucky to make some new lasting friendships along the way. And I welcome any new connections :)

Tenia Nelson:
Hello all my name is Tenia Nelson and I am a 31 year old jazz pianist, music teacher and paper crafter that lives in Denver, Colorado. I am married to a great guy named Tim, I am momma to my awesome son Thelonious(Theo) and I have two wonderful doggie "kids" Miles and Brillo. I love me some paper, stamps, inks and embellies....for reals though!!! I am so happy to be on the Little Tangles DT with these awesome ladies!!!

Tracy Ercole:
I am SO excited to be a part of the Little Tangles design team!  I started scrapbooking a few years ago and then decided to try making a few cards and that was it, I was hooked! I live in Tasmania, Australia and work full-time as a police officer.  I have a wonderful ‘understanding’ husband, and am a mum, and step-mum to 4 great boys ranging in age from 15 years to 20 months. If I’m not in my crafty space in my spare time, I love spending time with the hubby watching movies, walking our crazy dog Bella and am finally starting to enjoy going to the gym!

We can't wait to start our challenges on Thursday! These ladies will have some awesome inspiration for you and we're so excited to see what you create!!
