How-to Steps to A Little Note of Thanks

So excited to be able to present this card to you as Guest Designer at Little Tangles Challenge blog! This fortnights challenge is Giving Thanks. Although we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in this part of the world, I do have a lot to give thanks for!

I thought I'd give you a few hints and tips to create a card similar to this, using inks, sprays, embossing powder, and of course, Neat & Tangled Stamps!

  • Cut your 6x4 inch card base to size and round the corners.
  • Stamp several Neat & Tangled Fresh Blooms flowers (12) and My Heart Sings bird (1) onto watercolour paper in Versamrk Embossing ink (or similar).  Try stamping two rows of six flowers, with the bird stamped underneath the flowers on the right-hand end.
  • Sprinkle with clear embossing powder before blasting with your heat gun.
  • Using Distressed Inks, vertically swipe the ink pad over the clear embossed images. Swipe the colours so each is just overlapping the next colour. Try using Wild Honey on the left (4 flowers), Spiced Marmalade in the centre (4 flowers & bird) and Picked Raspberry on the right(4 flowers & bird).
  • Overspray with Glimmermist, or water & perfect pearls, then dry thoroughly with your heat gun. Try using Glimmermist Twinkle Yellow, or Gold, or just plain water!
  • Fussy cut the Neat & Tangled flowers and bird. Try using a really small pair of sharp scissors, to help get around all the curly edges more easily.
  • Adhere the layered flowers in position on the card with double-sided tape.
  • Cut a strip of cardstock 6.5 inch x 1.5 inch, round the corners and die-cut "thanks" letters. Try aligning and taping the letter dies with masking tape to them hold in place before die-cutting.
  • Don't be afraid to cut your stamps to customise your sentiments. This sentiment was created using Just Hello "a note of thanks" and "o" from "hello: and Fresh Blooms "f" from "beautiful". Before you ink your sentiment, place the sentiment stamps in position on your cardstock, then press down your stamp press or stamping block to pick up the stamps from the cardstock - this will vertically align your sentiment with your negative die-cut letters. Alternatively use a ruler to measure the spaces before placing your stamps on the block. If you have a stamping block with grid-lines, you can use the lines to help align your sentiment horizontally.
  • Stamp the sentiment using a coloured ink such as Hero Arts Soft Cantaloupe.
  • Pop dot the sentiment banner across the card.
  • Pop-dot the top section and double-sided tape the bottom section of the bird and attach to the card.
I hope you are inspired to give it a go with your inks and sprays, and Neat & Tangled stamps!

Many thanks!!!

Lyndal

    Caring Hearts Card Drive!

Hi everyone! Vera’s here today from Ling’s Design Studio

I am thrilled to be here today as I am teaming up with Little Tangles to promote Caring Hearts Card Drive

I started Caring Hearts Card Drive 4 years ago after my mom who is always so thoughtful of others suggested that I should send out Christmas cards to nursing homes. I am a good kid, so I listen to my mom.

The holidays are about family, about kindness, and joy. During this time many of the elderly who live in nursing homes would really feel the loneliness or missing their family.  And, wouldn't it be awesome if through our little hobby we could bring a smile to their face & brighten their holiday season? A simple gesture to let them know that they are not forgotten!

For our 4th year, I am doing this card drive together with Jennifer McGuire, Tina Schrof & Anita Recksiedler and we really hope that we can reach out to even more nursing homes than last year.

This card drive has grown so much and it all thanks to the support of the people in this paper crafting community, including the many fabulous and generous companies who help support our card drive by sponsoring prizes. One of the generous companies is Neat & Tangled and I am very grateful for their support.

I hope many of you will join in and send us one or two or fifty (there’s no limit) of your handmade holiday cards.

Here’s one of the cards I made inspired by the Little Tangles shaped card challenge:

Isn't Vera's shaped card absolutely adorable?

We hope that you join in the fun!

    Challenge #24 - Shaped Cards

Hi everyone! We are ready for a new challenge this week, and this is a special one.

If you know Vera Yates, then you know what a sweetheart she is. I have had a chance to work with her every year since she started this fabulous card drive. And I am always one of the lucky recipients to bring a box of cards to our local Assisted Living and it's so amazing to see the smiles spread on those folk's face. So please consider making your cards for this great cause in mind...

So we would like to combine our Shaped Card theme with this wonderful card drive. Please go head over there and see how many lovely prizes there are for every entry of card that you submit. Also note that Neat & Tangled will be sponsoring a prize! Also as a hint there will be giant blog post on Nov 8, where more prizes are to be had. So please consider making your card this time around for this wonderful cause.

Let's see what our guest designer this week whipped up. You may recognized Betty from her awesome super shaker card during the birthday bash. She is also a devoted player on our blog realm and her designs are just stunning!
